About Us

Driven by a desire to see children “learn to read” in order for them to “read to learn.” Literacy Ignited was founded by Antoinette Jenkins in 2015. Literacy Ignited believes that schools have the responsibility to ensure that students’ ability to read, write, think and speak will open up a world of possibilities in their future. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in education as a teacher, mentor teacher, and an instructional coach, we are passionate about supporting school leaders in implementing an action plan to create a literate environment of brilliant scholars.

Challenge

If you are like most educators we know, you are pouring a lot of time, resources, and love into your classroom. You spend hours assessing and analyzing data, planning lessons for the class and small groups, teaching several literacy programs during your literacy block, searching for resources to help your students who are struggling, and adding your teacher magic to the classroom culture. You are working tirelessly…and still there are a significant number of students that are not mastering the literacy concepts they need to be proficient readers and writers.

Solution

Literacy Ignited transforms educator’s literacy content knowledge and teaching practices. Using our L3 Literacy Learning Cycle protocol, we help teachers strategically plan data driven experiences that decrease overall planning time while increasing student mastery of literacy skills. We support educators, schools and districts in creating engaging classroom communities; where students are both challenged and supported and their literacy skills are ignited!
